Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI, is a noninvasive, painless way to look inside the body to see your organs and other body tissues. The purpose of an MRI is to find changes in your body that can lead to diagnosis and treatment of disease. MRI uses a large magnet, radio waves and a computer to create images of your organs and tissues. The diameter of the tube in a Wide Bore MRI is slightly larger than that in a regular MRI: 70cm vs 40cm. There is typically about 1 foot of space between a patient’s nose and the tube.  This MRI is beneficial because it uses a 1.5T magnet for high quality pictures and is larger, which reduces claustrophobia.

A CT scan, also known as a CAT scan or Computed Tomography, is a special kind of X-ray that takes pictures of a cross-section of a part of your body. CT scans may be used to find certain changes inside your body that regular X-rays cannot find.
